Bilsan Wood Veneer Flat cutting

Here the half-log's core side is fixed to the cutting table. When cutting begins the veneer sheets still have a vivid grain structure, whereas towards the middle more and more veneers emerge with a "flowery" structure.

Bilsan Wood Veneer False quarter cutting
With this finishing method veneers with a semi-flowery texture are produced from the quartered log. For the annual rings are only cut on one side at a lower angle. Joining these veneers will provide large (e.g. for single-unit furniture) flowery textures.

Bilsan Wood Veneer True quarter cutting

The log is quartered with the knife's cut being made at right angles to the annual rings. The veneers reveal an exceptionally streaky textured veneer face.

Bilsan Wood Veneer Flat quarter cutting
Unlike real quarter cutting, the quarter log is cut from the outside to the log's centre so that the annual rings are cut flat. The veneers produced in this way have, as with flat cutting, an almost pure, flowery "cathedral structure".
